Description of Services: Coordinates services and support of volunteers who offer companionship and support to individuals and families with a chronic or life-limiting illness
  • Recruits and screens volunteers willing to donate time with palliative care patients
  • Matches volunteers with clients on a one-on-one basis
  • Provides a 30-hour training course for volunteers
  • Promotes services and educates member communities about the benefits of Palliative Care volunteers
  • Accepts donations and issues charitable donation receipts; must specify which community the donation is directed to
Friendly visiting volunteer services provided include:
  • Respite care for caregivers
  • Assistance with shopping, making phone calls, writing letters, getting to appointments, and community outings
  • Bedside support
  • Support in home, hospital, or long term care facility
Offers palliative care coordination in following communities:

  • Dryden
  • Ear Falls
  • Emo
  • Fort Frances
  • Ignace
  • Kenora
  • Rainy River
  • Red Lake
