Description of Services: Responsible for fire protection and prevention, and administration of the Ontario Fire Code
  • Fire protection provided by Lake Helen Volunteer Fire Department with assistance from Nipigon Fire Department
  • Issues applicable burn permits required for brush piles, incinerators and open fires, excluding campfires
  • Practises regular standardized training modules and members also attend external training opportunities
  • Maintains a fire hall, equipment, one pumper truck and a rapid attack vehicle
Provides the following services:
  • Education programs including smoke alarms, fire extinguishers and fire/fall protection for Elders
  • Emergency planning
  • Fire investigation
  • Fire suppression
  • Hazardous materials information
  • Home safety which includes ensuring all homes are equipped with smoke alarms and charged fire extinguishers
