Description of Services: Operates as a program under the Healing and Wellness Branch
  • Developed as a new program aimed at supporting Indigenous seniors to remain in their own homes as long as possible
  • Aims to improve the quality of life of community seniors and to help reduce the stress felt by the family and caregivers
  • Provides education and information related to health and well-being
  • Acts as a resource and respite for family members who are caring for an elderly loved one
Services provided can include but are not limited to the following:
  • Assistance with personal care such as bathing
  • Home support with light housekeeping, laundry and meal preparation
  • Friendly visits to help with loneliness
  • Assistance with coordination of contracted services for lawn care and snow removal
  • Transportation/accompaniment to medical appointments and for errands such as banking and grocery shopping

Eligibility - Population(s) Served: Métis individuals 55 years of age and older in financial need and requiring support to remain living in their own home
Application:
  • Referral required from Physician or Nurse Practitioner

  • Intake assessment conducted with review of current home/family supports
