Description of Services:
  • Functions as a volunteer based community organization
  • Offers a variety of support services to individuals living with a life threatening illness, and those who have been bereaved
  • Offers a library of up to date resources for clients, caregivers, volunteers and the general public
  • Compassionate Support
    • Enhances the quality of life during a serious illness
    • Provides compassionate support for palliative clients defined by the client and/or family and can include practical assistance and in-home respite
    Bereavement and Grief Support
    • Offers support to individuals grieving the loss of a loved one through death, and wishes to be supported on a one-on-one supportive relationship with a volunteer
    • Offers a peer support group 3-4 times per year for people who have experienced the death of a loved one

    Eligibility - Population(s) Served: Individuals diagnosed with a life threatening illness or their caregiver
    Application:
    • Referrals can be made by anyone, as long as the individual is aware of the referral

    • An interview is set up and the client and volunteer are matched
